Project Overview

St Andrew’s Parish Primary School is a Catholic school situated in Clayton South, Victoria. A school dedicated to providing an extensive education to its students, St Andrew’s is one of a number of schools who are embracing tubular daylighting systems to reduce energy costs and improve student performance.

Objective

To reduce a large percentage of the school’s energy costs and deliver more natural daylight into the hall and surrounding areas to assist in improving the teaching and learning environment.

Solution

The school’s hall doubles as the gymnasium, thus being one of the most used areas on the grounds. Twenty-five Solatube 750 DS Daylighting Systems were installed, delivering an abundant level of daylight throughout the hall, passageway and changing rooms and allowing the electric lights to be turned off during school hours. As a result, energy costs have been significantly reduced and the natural daylight – as commented by staff – has created an excellent teaching and learning. environment.
