HOW IT WORKS

Moist air out. A fresher room below.

The ducted Enviromax configuration carries air from the internal room through the roof and releases it outdoors – not into the roof cavity.

VERTICAL VENTILATION

Why vent directly through the roof?

More effective extraction

A dedicated vertical duct path efficiently carries steam, stale air and odours out of the home.

Helps reduce moisture build-up

Moist air is discharged outdoors before it can settle in the ducting or roof cavity and contribute to mould growth.

Quieter where it matters

The motor is mounted at roof level, further away from the room below for quieter in-room operation.

Room ventilation FAQs

The Enviromax Room Ventilation System is a powered, roof-mounted extraction system designed to remove warm, humid and stale air from moisture-prone rooms such as bathrooms and laundries.

Air is drawn from the room through an internal ceiling vent and ducted outside through the roof-mounted ventilator. Unlike a wind-driven roof vent, Enviromax uses a 240V motor, so it can provide reliable ventilation even when there is little or no wind. By removing steam, moisture and odours at their source, it helps reduce condensation, discourage mould growth and keep the room fresher and more comfortable.

Depending on the selected model, the system can be operated using a switch or thermostat control.

Yes. Enviromax is an effective ventilation solution for bathrooms without windows or where windows cannot be opened for security or privacy reasons.

The system draws steam, humid air and odours from the bathroom and expels them outside through the roof-mounted ventilator. This helps the room dry faster while reducing condensation and the conditions that encourage mould and mildew.

For effective extraction, the bathroom must also have a source of replacement air, such as a suitable gap beneath the door or a transfer grille. A Solatube dealer can assess the room and recommend the appropriate installation.

Enviromax is designed to discharge moisture-laden bathroom air outside the home, not into the roof cavity.

Air is drawn from the bathroom through an internal ceiling vent and ducted directly to the roof-mounted Enviromax ventilator, which expels it outdoors. This helps prevent steam and moisture from accumulating in the roof space, where they may contribute to condensation, mould, saturated insulation or damage to building materials.

For applicable building work, current NCC-related compliance guidance requires bathroom exhaust air to be discharged outdoors and does not permit exhaust ducting to terminate within the roof space. However, requirements can vary according to the building, location and scope of work. The installation should therefore be assessed and completed in accordance with applicable state, territory and local requirements.

The Solatube Enviromax Ducted Room Ventilation System delivers 324 m³/h (90 L/s)—around 3.6 times the NCC minimum airflow rate and more than many standard bathroom exhaust fans. Its roof-mounted motor draws moisture-laden air through the ceiling grille and ducts it directly outdoors, providing powerful extraction with reduced motor noise inside the room.

Yes. Effective room ventilation removes moisture-laden air before it can settle on walls, ceilings and other surfaces. This helps reduce condensation and the damp conditions that encourage mould growth, particularly in bathrooms, laundries and other enclosed spaces.

Enviromax is designed for quieter in-room operation because the motor is mounted at roof level, away from the occupied room. Actual noise levels will depend on the system configuration, ducting and installation.

Yes. Enviromax can provide room ventilation for moisture-prone or poorly ventilated spaces, including laundries, kitchens, walk-in wardrobes and bathrooms.

In laundries, it can help remove heat and humidity produced by washing machines and dryers. In walk-in wardrobes, improved airflow can reduce musty odours and the moisture conditions that encourage mould and mildew. In kitchens, Enviromax can assist with general heat, humidity and lingering odours; however, it is not a substitute for a compliant rangehood designed to capture cooking grease, smoke and fumes at their source.

The most suitable system configuration will depend on the room’s size, moisture levels, available replacement air and installation layout. A Solatube dealer can assess the space and recommend the appropriate Enviromax solution.

The main difference between the single-cap and double-cap Enviromax systems is their extraction capacity and control options.

The powered single-cap system provides an airflow rating of up to 520 m³/hr and is available with optional thermostat control. It may suit smaller rooms or applications with lower ventilation requirements.

The powered double-cap system provides an airflow rating of up to 820 m³/hr—approximately 58% more airflow than the single-cap model. It includes thermostat control, allowing the system to switch on and off automatically according to the selected temperature setting. Its higher capacity may make it more suitable for larger spaces, multiple extraction points or areas with greater heat and moisture loads.

Both powered systems operate independently of wind. The correct model depends on the room volume, number of extraction points, ducting layout and required airflow, so a Solatube dealer should assess the property before recommending a system.

Am absolutely thrilled with my solatube skylights!! Made so much difference in the areas l found dark,no need to turn lights on now until the end of daylight! The installer was professional, efficient, friendly and tidy.Recommend them 100%.
We've had 4 units installed and as a former lighting consultant, I'm very impressed. We replaced 2 exiting units we could no longer get parts for. Glenn made bold claims about the improvement in light output. We weren't disappointed. The steep angle of the roof required a long tube (around 1.4m).... (A fresnel lens on the collar of the dome ensures horizontal light (early morning sunshine) is refracted downwards. A sophisticated lens on the interior ceiling spreads the light evenly around the room including illuminating the walls (I estimate around 150 degree light spread). Regrettably, like most good things, it doesn't come cheap. But you'll have them for many years (decades?). In conclusion, you may find cheaper, but I doubt you'll find better.read more
I'd like to commend Kyal Stewart as installer for his great communication skills, excellent workmanship and brilliant customer service. He recommended that we put 2 solatubes in our hallway and this wasn't an upsell, rather his recommendation that 2 would be a much better choice in lighting up an... otherwise dark hallway. And he was right, results are brilliant. Also, I'd like to commend both Alex and DJ. I knew what product I was after, and they kept me informed in respect to the time for a quote inspection and then the installation appointment. Great company, great product. I would recommend to others for sure.read more
We recently had a Solatube installed in our kitchen by Skylights WA, Bunbury branch, and we could not be happier with the result. Our kitchen used to feel quite dark on overcast days, but the difference since installing the Solatube has been fantastic. It now brings in beautiful natural light from... sunrise to sundown and has completely changed the feel of the room. The Bunbury team were friendly, professional and easy to deal with from start to finish. They kept us up to date, explained the product and installation clearly, and made the whole process very simple. We are genuinely thrilled with the result and would happily recommend Skylights WA Bunbury to anyone considering adding more natural light to their home.5 stars from us.read more
I have had concerns with dealing with tradespeople in the past. Not so with Jadine and skylights Plus. He was capable and efficient. Nothing was too hard for him in an old qlder with sloping roof, timber and pressed metal ceilings and a concealed manhole. I was so relieved that nothing was a... problem for him. The effect of the skylight was better than I could have imagined. I can highly recommend Skylight Plus.read more
