Maria Douglas has been working for Solatube Australia for nearly 8 years. She started her working career in the Government and studied Accounting. She then went overseas and travelled extensively before settling in the UK for 10 years. During that time she developed her IT skills and became an expert in implementing systems and process improvements. After returning to her hometown of Christchurch in 1997, she took on a position with Tait Electronics, a multinational communications company. She played a major role in developing numerous systems and was involved in rolling them out in the UK, North America and Asia. In this time she was transferred to Brisbane and continued her studies by completing a Post Grad Diploma in Business. She joined Solatube in 2006, as the Financial Controller. She quickly took on additional responsibilities and has been the driving force behind developing processes and systems both internally and throughout the Premier Dealer network. Alongside her passion for excellence in the workplace, she is also well known for participating in demanding physical challenges outside of work – to her credit she has completed Olympic Distance Triathlon’s, Ocean Swims, Cycling crazy distances (Phuket to Bangkok comes to mind) and most recently completing Tough Mudder. “I try and keep the work/life balance in check and I am grateful that working for Solatube allows me to do this.
